She went on to say that she'd felt such intense pressure to look a certain way that she tried weight loss pills and developed a disordered eating pattern. “I was really, really glad though, mainly, that I’m in this place in my life, because if that had happened three years ago, when I was in the midst of my horrible body relationship—or dancing a ton, five years ago, I wasn’t really eating. I was, like, starving myself. I remember taking a pill that told me that it would make me lose weight and it only made me pee the bed—when I was 12.”

To lose weight, Billie Eilish started working out three to four times a week for 45 minutes each, incorporating cardio exercises, strength training, interval training (HIIT), swimming, yoga, and Pilates. Although she started with full-body workouts, she gradually focused on just a few muscle groups each day. This gave her a full-body toned appearance and helped her lose weight. Her training sessions include a five-to-ten-minute cardio warm-up, 30 minutes of resistance training, and ten-minute cardio cool-down.

Eating healthy was crucial to her weight loss. Billie Eilish was a vegetarian growing up, but by age 12, she switched to veganism and hasn't looked back since. In an interview with British Vogue, she said, “I am vegan, I’ve been vegan for.. damn.. seven years. I learned about the dairy industry, and the meat industry, which I already knew about. But, you know, once you know that kind of thing and you see it, it’s really hard to go back”. “And now, even though I have lots of friends that eat dairy and meat and I don't ever want to tell anybody what to do. I just can’t go on in my life knowing what’s going on in the animal world and, like, not doing anything about it.” Eilish continued.

The singer said on the 2018 episode of the YouTube series Montreality that becoming a vegan wasn’t that hard for her because she grew up not eating meat. "Becoming vegan wasn't, like, a huge deal for me because meat was never a thing in my life,” she said. “It wasn't like I missed meat — it wasn't like I had something to miss.” Over the years, Eilish has used her platform to raise awareness about how animals are treated in the meat industry, hoping that more people will speak out against animal suffering. For Thanksgiving 2021, she wrote in her Instagram Stories: “Turkeys are some of the most gentle creatures in the world, and 46 million of them are killed every Thanksgiving. I know it’s hard to change traditions but just keep it in mind :).”

The 20 years old enjoys healthy smoothies, salads, mashed potatoes, avocados, tofu, burritos, spicy food, and peanut-butter chocolate chip cookies. During an interview with Variety, Billie Eilish said that because her diet is so restrictive, she often skipped meals because she could not find anything that complied with her veganism. "The first tours we did I used to lose weight because I never got to eat and it was not my choice like it was just we couldn't eat anything almost ever, especially in Europe. But now we kinda gain weight when we're on tour [because] we have so many people and their whole job is to get us food,".
